Occasionally the vending machine folks of Warren (Ohio, that is) gives us something especially titillating that even piques our interest more than usual!  A visit to the machine this week proved that this was one of those times!  Another sacrificial offering from the chicken and a good time in the making from the vending machine of sweet and savory, this week I give you…

 

Popcorn Chicken with Honey Mustard

 Think of the culinary joy you will find (and how jealous you can make your co-workers) as you strut down the hall with your own, personal finger-licking bucket of honey mustard popcorn chicken!  It’s magic in a bucket people!!

 Wine Pairing: This week you’ll want to grab the bull by the horns when mixing your wine and chicken!  Dancing Bull Chardonnay is just what we’re looking for!  With flavors of juicy peaches, nectarines, citrus and vanilla, this buttery textured wine is just what you are looking for when saluting your chicken!

 Beer Pairing: What says popcorn chicken better than Newcastle Brown Ale?  This slightly bitter ale with tastes of roasted nuts and caramel finishes with just the right amount of sweet and hops!  A good match for our bits o’ chicken!

 So this week when you’re hankerin’ for just the right snack, make your way down for some Popcorn Chicken with Honey Mustard Sauce!  Your taste buds will thank you!!

Rarely do you ever find as interesting an item in a vending machine as an egg product. It just doesn’t happen! But the chicken, being the mighty creature that it is, has already bestowed its wings to the machine (as well as that tangy chicken delight sandwich), so why not throw in a few eggs as well. The chicken is a giver! It lives, and dies, to give. This week it gives us two gifts that are worthy of breakfast with mimosas! This week I give you…

Dynamic Duo Breakfast

Your choice of one of two breakfast delights that is sure to please and send your morning metabolism into overdrive! You have a choice of the croissant scrambler with scrambled eggs and cheese on a flaky, buttery croissant or the Sausage, Egg & Hash brown sandwich on a roll. Hash browns on a sandwich?! We are truly in the presence of greatness here people! How do they do it? Why do they do it?

Wine Pairing: As previously stated, mimosas are where it’s at folks! In this case, I recommend the Blushing Mimosa! A fine blend of orange and pineapple juices, grenadine and Champagne, this tasty glass of liquid love gives either sandwich just the right amount of morning happy!

Beer Pairing: Today’s beer pairing is Free State Belgian Wheat beer. Who knows, maybe our eggs are free range and will go well with Free State beer! Hints of honey, coriander, oatmeal and orange are just under the surface of this unmalted wheat beverage and just the right match for either egg-wich!

*Note: There’s a certain amount of work-place etiquette that should be considered when eating beer and eggs in the same meal. Gastro-intestinally speaking, one should consider the general comfort of your fellow employees and seek out the sanctity of an isolated cubicle or consider removing yourself to an outlying desk before partaking of this combustional culinary combination. Really, it’s the right thing to do and just plain considerate!

 When I think of roast beef, I typically think of slow-roasted, tender, making the house smell all kinds of warm, happy yummy smell from having it cook all day in a nice, juicy gravy.  You don’t often find yourself fortunate enough to have access to that kind of joy in the midst of your day, but here it is right in our own vending machine of bequest and bestowal.  Today the generous folks of Warren, Ohio give us a bit of happy in our day with this week’s winner…

 Roast Beef & Swiss Sandwich

 Layers upon layers of savory roast beef, slices of Swiss cheese and a seeded roll comprise today’s magic in cellophane!  Looking for a little something more?  Fear not, you also get your very own mayonnaise packet to complete this masterpiece!  Van Gogh should have been so lucky!  Maybe if he had access to such delights, that whole ear thing could have been avoided (just sayin’.)

 Wine Pairing: Coming to you all the way from Spain, this week’s wine is none other than the Venta Mazzaron Tinta de Toro.  Aged in French oak with a medium body and the slight hint of cherries, this wine is just the right sidekick for our Roast Beef & Swiss!

Beer Pairing: This week our sandwich is being matched with Honker’s Ale!  This fruity hop, but richly malted beer is just the right mix for good eatin’!  Bring on the goose!

This week is special!  Every once in a while the vending gods descend from on high to bring us something that we could not have imagined in our best (or worst) day!  This, people, is one of those days!  Prepare yourself, for today I give you…

 Pizza Sub with Homemade Sauce

From the very bowels of the creative genius that is Warren, Ohio, today we have a virtual melting pot of delights right inside the vending machine of intrigue and wonder.  What can you say about a pizza sub?  And with homemade sauce?!  When life gives you one of those moments where you can’t decide if you want a sub or pizza for lunch… why make the choice?  Why not have both?  This delectable hoagie is chock full of cheese, sauce and pepperoni, all on a nice, dense, classic roll!  It’s east meets west, up meets down and inside meets out!  Mind blowing people, just mind blowing!

Wine pairing: Today our wine is paired with the Four Vines Zinfandel Paso Robles Biker wine.  Blackberry, anise and a smooth vanilla oak finish give this wine just the right cheery disposition to enhance our pizza sub.  And what could be better with pizza than a darn nice red??

 Beer pairing: Our beer pairing is none other than LaRossa Birra Moretti.  This double malt Italian beer has just a touch of caramel and has a uniquely bitter aftertaste.  And according to the Beermeister, “it has been around since Jesus”.  Apparently this is a very mature and experienced beer, just right to pair with our sub!

When sitting down at the lunch table of plenty, tie that napkin around your neck and enjoy this week’s winner, Pizza Sub!  Bon Appetite!
